Lots and lots of murders in the night

A crime has been committed. Detective Beck and Gunvald Larsson are called in to lead the investigation. They throw themselves down a labyrinthian rabbit hole to try to get to the bottom of the case. Many more murders take place. The neighbour-next-door pops up in the most unexpected of places. Suddenly everything has to be dubbed into German. Roles are switched, duplicated and the line blurs between fiction and reality.  Beck ends up in peculiar ZOOM meetings and in the basement sits Sjöwall Wahlöö brooding.
Beck is faced with his most difficult case yet. Who am I? A real detective, a fictive role or an actor?

When the Moomsteater actors were asked to give suggestions of plays they wanted to put on someone yelled “Beck!” and someone else chipped in quickly with “I want to play Persbrandt!”. And that is where the idea was born. Not to put on a regular detective story or even use a film script from the Beck TV series. But to create a play about the Swedish fascination with detective stories. The phenomenon, genre and archetypes that have eaten their way into the world definitions and consciousness of consumers. And the blurry distinction between an actor and the role they play. 

Moomsteatern creates theatre using neurodivergent actors. We aim for our audience to undergo a unique theatre experience. We wish to challenge peoples’ mindset and stimulate societal dialogue. We wish to challenge the theatre industry’s mindset when it comes to representation and who is allowed to take space on stage.
We work with actors both with and without disabilities, on equal terms. The inclusive ensemble, actors with and actors without disabilities, are a cornerstone for the work carried out by Moomsteatern. We offer actors who have an intellectual or learning disability the possibility to focus on and develop within their career. We are still the only theatre in Sweden who offer fulltime employment covered by a collective agreement to actors with intellectual disabilities.
