Kvinnolinjen/The Line of Women
– a one-woman show about a family trauma
One glittery curtain, five empty chairs and a family history.
Actress Eva Ekengren plays the role of herself, her mother, her maternal grandmother, her great grandmother and her daughter and invites us to a meeting place beyond space and time, in order to edge together towards a hidden family trauma and perhaps even find resolution.
A humorous and steeply layered one-woman show built on Eva Ekengren’s own family history, where the deeply personal becomes a part of the deeply universal human condition. A female history we are all a part of.
Regissören Nina Jemth Öhlund talks about the performance:
“This is a story of stunted strength and the struggle to reconquer life. To unhesitatingly dare to believe in a change is possible. So, with warmth and humour, we extend an invitation to you dear public to witness a unique line of women, in the way all women are unique, but women who nevertheless reach out to one another across all boundaries.”
From the audience:
“Eva Ekengren is a brilliant comedienne who makes us laugh, cry and takes our breath away. A highly personal history which by daring to go all the way, becomes a universal story so many of us recognise ourselves in. Great theatre and a true transformative work! WATCH IT!” /Tina Q
”Blown away by yesterday’s premiere of the performance ”The Womens’ Lineage”. “So gripping, genuine, intimate, with love, objectivity and humour. It prompted many questions about my own lineage and how important it is to see and heal one’s history. Go see it!” /Cicki D
“A warm and heartfelt thank you for The Line of Women”. Fragile and strong all at once. Was moved to tears. Wish that many young people, especially young men, get the chance to watch it.” /Göran B
